He obtained his Bachelor's degree in Chemistry & Chemical Academic from Henan University, Kaifeng, China, in 1985. Building upon this foundation, Gang pursued a Master's degree in Fine Chemical Academic from Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) in Wuhan, China, in 1988. Under the mentorship of Dr. Shankha Banerji and Dr. Tom Clevenger, Gang's research focused on crucial environmental issues such as the formation of disinfection by-products in water treatment processes and the removal of contaminants like Chromium(VI).
