Silvia Saikia embarked on her academic journey with a keen interest in Energy Engineering. She earned her B.Tech in Energy Engineering from North Eastern Hills University, Meghalaya, India, in 2017. This foundational education provided her with a strong background in the field and paved the way for her future endeavors in the domain of energy and environmental research. Continuing her academic pursuits, Silvia pursued a master's degree in Energy Engineering at Tezpur University, Assam, India, graduating in 2019. This period of her academic journey equipped her with specialized knowledge and skills, setting the stage for her deeper exploration into the intricate facets of energy and environmental studies.

Professional Endeavors:

Silvia Saikia's professional journey took a significant turn during her winter internship at CSIR-NEIST, Jorhat, Assam. From December 2016 to February 2017, she actively contributed to the assessment of the quality of coal in the North-Eastern region of India. This experience not only enhanced her practical understanding of energy resources but also ignited her passion for research and problem-solving in the energy sector.

Building on this foundation, Silvia took on the role of a Teaching Assistant for the NPTEL Online Certification course in Municipal Solid Waste Management in 2022 and 2023. This teaching role showcased her commitment to knowledge dissemination and marked her transition from being a student to a mentor in her field.

Contributions and Research Focus:

Silvia's transition into a Ph.D. program at the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IITG) reflects her dedication to advancing knowledge in the field of Energy and Environment. Her doctoral research focuses on the "Design and Operation of a Fixed Bed Pyrolizer for Thermochemical Conversion of Municipal Solid Waste and its Product Application." This ambitious project underscores her commitment to addressing critical issues related to solid waste management and exploring sustainable solutions through thermochemical conversion.

Her primary research interests include Solid Waste Management, Pyrolysis Technology, and the detailed analysis of solid wastes.
