Dr. TaeWon Seo's journey in the field of Mechanical Engineering commenced at Seoul National University, where he earned his Bachelor's degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering in February 2003. His dedication to academic excellence continued as he pursued a Ph.D. in the same discipline at Seoul National University, completing his doctorate in August 2008 under the mentorship of Professor Jongwon Kim.
Following his academic pursuits, Dr. Seo embarked on a series of professional endeavors that showcased his commitment to advancing knowledge and pushing the boundaries of mechanical engineering. His post-doctoral research at Carnegie Mellon University, USA, under the guidance of Dr. Metin Sitti in the Nanorobotics Lab, marked the beginning of his international research exposure. Dr. Seo also served as a Visiting Scholar at the University of Michigan, further enriching his expertise in manufacturing processes. Upon returning to Korea, he assumed roles such as Lecturer at Dankook University and Researcher at the Institute of Advanced Machinery Design at Seoul National University. His international exposure continued with a Visiting Professorship at UC Berkeley's Biomimetic Millisystems Lab, working alongside Dr. Ron Fearing. In 2010, Dr. Seo joined Yeungnam University as an Associate and Assistant Professor, contributing significantly to the School of Mechanical Engineering. His impactful tenure included a range of responsibilities, from team management to serving as a board member in various committees. In March 2018, Dr. Seo took the next step in his academic journey, joining Hanyang University as an Associate Professor in the School of Mechanical Engineering. Recognizing his exceptional contributions, he was promoted to the position of Professor in March 2022, solidifying his role as a key figure in shaping the academic landscape at Hanyang University.
